baby k's photoshoot

What an awesome experience. Although, we've had several sonograms before, today we were able to see baby k in lots of action and were able to recognize all ten toes and fingers! We have a healthy baby! I would definitely say the worst part of the sonogram is having to drink so much water and not being able to go to the restroom beforehand. Once the sonogram began taking place, I didn't eve think about having to go to the restroom. We are right on track for our November 19 due date. We will go back to the doctor in 2 weeks for our monthly appointment. Halfway there and we CAN'T WAIT!!

love my twins.

No. We are NOT having twins.

I just wanted to give a little shout out to my favorite twins Marcus and Markieff Morris for doing KU fans proud in the 2011 NBA draft.I was a little worried they might have mixed up Marcus and Markieff when Markieff was drafted before Marcus. But, it didn't take long after Markieff's #13 draft pick, when Marcus was drafted #14. The twins never seem to be too far apart. I'm excited to see more KU players representing in the NBA. Chalmers did the Heat well in the finals, so I can only hope the Morris twins do just as well. For now, follow the twins @KansasTwin22 (Marcus) and @KansasTwin21 (Markieff) on twitter to get the latest on their life in the NBA!

Pullen, good luck overseas, or with whatever you decided to do with that KSU degree.

a year for the gingers?

After watching the 2011 Miss USA pageant last night, I'm beginning to think 2011 might be the year of the red heads. Our family often jokes about the possibility of Baby K being a red head. We continuously try to calculate what the odds are and guess the color of Baby K's eyes and hair. I was born blonde with blue eyes; Garrett with brown eyes and red hair, but his siblings both have dark eyes and dark hair. Not only is Baby K's sex going to be a BIG surprise, but so is it's hair color. But, for now, I'm kind of liking the idea of another ginger. I mean, even though Miss USA's hair color isn't natural, she did beat out 50 other contestants with her dyed red locks!
Rock on, gingers, rock on!!

my bff.

Not only is this an exciting time for Garrett and I, but it's also a very exciting time for my bff, Stacey. Two weeks prior to Garrett and I finding out that we were expecting, Stacey found out that she and her husband Dustin would be having baby #2! I literally cannot imagine my life without my bff. She is one of the most kind-hearted people I know and trust. She always looks for the good in people and is a person that can turn my day around with a lunch date and a good talk. This whole experience (pregnancy) has been a very fun adventure being able to share it with my bff. Stacey just found out she will be having baby boy #2! So, now as we wait until 'the day' to find out what we are having, Stacey and I joke about whether our children will date or become best friends just like us. Thank you, Stacey, for being the BEST bff in the whole world. I love you!!!

we have LIGHT!

It's official. The basement now has light! We're now completely done with the framing, plumbing and electrical! Garrett will be working on installing insulation this weekend and then we are ready for sheet rock! I never thought I'd be so excited about sheet rock, or insulation for that matter. After the sheet rock comes paint. So, now I'm getting down to finalizing the paint colors and picking out artwork. The nerd and crazy person that I am has been taking pictures in stores of things I like for inspiration. Here are some of our 'ideal' pieces! Go, sheet rock, go!!!

the doctor's office has never been so fun!

Yes. I'm one who hates going to the doctor. It might be the amount of money they take from you after you wait 30 minutes after your appointment was supposed to take place, or the fact that they usually spend 5 minutes diagnosing your 'cold'. Anyways, baby appointments are different. I LOVE them. It's so fun to hear the heartbeat and to listen to the doctor tell you how healthy and wonderful your baby is. I just, LOVE it. This week the baby's heartbeat was 158 bpm and the doctor said we have a VERY active baby! Thank goodness there was reasoning for not being able to find the heartbeat for what seemed like an eternity. He said the baby was just moving all around up, down and side to side. We'll go back to the doctor's office in two weeks for our sonogram! Although we've seen the baby three different times now, we'll now be able to see the baby at a much larger size and see his/her arm, legs and so much more! We'll also be sure to tell the nurse we do NOT want to find out the sex of the baby. I hope she/he listens!

15.. and 16...and counting!

We've passed 15 and now 16 weeks of this wonderful pregnancy experience. I've been able to stay awake in the evenings, eat and exercise more and get out of the house. Energy is back! Horray! Just this week I've began to feel a slight 'flutter' and I'm hoping that this means the baby is growing and moving more! We go back to the doctor next week and will know more on the progression of baby K then. For now, I'm thankful that I've been able to do more around the house with the renewed energy and oddly, thankful that I'm growing.. yep, gettin' big!

First comes marriage....

One of my great friends, Miss Alli Klein, got engaged this weekend. For one this is blog-worthy, because Alli always talked about how she would never get married, and then it became the story of well, if I get married I'll be the last one to get married and it'll be at an old, old age. I'm happy to say that Alli's stories were all lies :) This may be the best proposal yet, so I wanted to share it with everyone else, that is, if you didn't see it on the 6 o'clock or 10 o'clock news last night! Congratulations Alli! I'm so happy for you! And, nice work Bret!

IDEAl decor.

So many rooms to paint, re-paint, furnish and decorate. Even our small, but to us, a perfect home, overwhelms me with decisions. I've become an Internet fanatic lately looking for baby room, living room, bar, bathroom and bedroom ideas. There is so much stuff to choose from. With a budget of well, as cheap as possible, it's sometimes difficult to put together an idea without spending a fortune. I found a website this week - decorpad.com  - and have fallen in love with some of their ideas, especially their "Look 4 Less" ideas. Below is one of the great ideas I found! It might be a bit cheesy, but I thought it was unique and cute!
So, for the baby room. My, oh, my! I never thought this would be this difficult. Since we are not finding out the sex of the baby, the room needs to be neutral, to some extent. I'm not a big pink person, so this is perfectly fine with me. I've come up with a few color palettes to choose from: 1) red, teal, gray and white - OR-  2) burnt orange,  pear green, yellow and teal.  I did come up with these palettes with the help of a few inspiration pieces.

We did decide on baby furniture this week and we LOVE it! Here's a sneak peak without the bedding or room design :)
